Tactile Graphics Primer
This primer for teaching tactile graphicacy introduces a stepwise progression from tactile identification of a 3D object through to its recognition in a 2D graphic.
It includes a realistic relief model, a contour style representation and a raised line graphic for each of seven familiar objects: ball, banana, mug, teddy, shell & bucket. The contour stylization means an object, or specific parts of an object form a flat single contour surface with edges that can be followed relatively easily to reveal the outline. A halfway house between 3D and 2D.
All graphics are approximately A5 and vacuum formed from robust 0.5mm HIPS plastic sheet. Electronic Illustrations in pdf format are also available on request if you would prefer to create your own 2D version using an embosser or Piaf machine. Two A5 non-slip foam mats are provided to assist tactile reading of side by side graphics. All packaged in the ubiquitous recycled wine box.
