A "low profile" tactile chess set based on a grid system that is designed as an alternative to the very 3D peg located sets that comply with international standards for competition chess. 
The white grid squares are inset with a silky smooth plastic which makes them easy to distinguish from the plywood finish of the black dyed squares.       
The very low level counters have been designed to assist with quick scanning of the board.  Different shapes denote the different pieces and have been been chosen for easy differentiation and are generally symbolic of the moves made by the piece.  One player has the shapes in relief and the other in counter relief so you get the colour of the piece literally as you feel for the identification of the type of piece. There is also provision for a foam addition to denote a promoted pawn.
The $50 set comes in the pizza box and for an extra $10 you can store the pieces seperately in a wooden box.
